Project Sakhi- A girl’s best Companion

As per the report, India’s country-wide female literacy rate is 70.3%, while the male literacy rate is estimated at 84.7%. India’s average literacy rate stands at 77.7%, according to the NSO. Uma Foundation is empowering marginalized girls through quality education. Our program and projects work through building learning ecosystems that are inclusive,
gender conscious, and safe for all. In India, 64.4 per cent of women aged 15-24 use sanitary napkins, 49.6 per cent use cloth, 15 per cent use locally prepared napkins. Overall, 77.6 per cent of women in this age group use a hygienic method of menstrual protection, states the national report of NFHS-5 released by Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on May 5. Project Sakhi focuses on solving the problem of menstruation through awareness and sustainability. Initiative has provided over 500+ sanitary napkins in lucknow to more weaker section of society. We also aware them regarding menstrual hygiene and provide platform to openly talk about menstrual health in our campaign.
