As per the State of Education Report for India 2022 – UNESCO, the literacy rate in India is 74.04%, 82.14% for males and 65.46% for females.
Uma Foundation believes that the basic unit of transforming the community is education, which is the main objective of the organization. Right to Education, Learning and Development (emotional, physical and mental) are fundamental human rights of all children below the age of 18 as per the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Child (UNCRC).
Project Pathshala is working with the objective of empowering underprivileged children by providing them education. Currently our project is operating in Lucknow, Pratapgarh and Varanasi. Here we provide needy children with stationeries (books, copies, pencils, pens, colors, pencil box, bags, etc). Volunteers visit them regularly according to schedule and teach the children. On weekends we take tests and also conduct art classes for extracurricular activities.
